Hydraulic Oil — DANA Lubricants

DANA Lubricants supplies high-performance hydraulic fluids to fleet managers, construction companies, industries, and distributors in French-speaking Africa and the Middle East. Our hydraulic oils comply with ISO 11158, DIN 51524, Denison HF-0/HF-1/HF-2, and Vickers standards .

Range of Hydraulic Oils

Mineral Hydraulic Oil (HM/HV Series)

For standard hydraulic systems and mobile applications (construction equipment, cranes, tractors):

  • Hydraulic Oil ISO VG 32 — high-pressure hydraulic systems, cool temperatures
  • Hydraulic Oil ISO VG 46the most commonly used grade — for construction equipment, industrial presses, cranes
  • Hydraulic Oil ISO VG 68 — Heavy-duty hydraulic systems, high ambient temperatures, Africa
  • Hydraulic Oil ISO VG 100/150 — Heavy-duty industrial equipment, low speed

High Viscosity Index (HVI) Hydraulic Oil

Improved formulation for mobile equipment operating in extended temperature ranges — particularly suitable for construction sites in North Africa (nighttime frost, intense daytime heat):

  • HVI 46 — mobile, all-season vehicles, Algeria / Morocco / Tunisia
  • HVI 68 — heavy machinery in tropical areas (Sub-Saharan Africa)

Synthetic Hydraulic Fluid (PAO)

For very high pressure hydraulic systems (>350 bar) or extreme thermal cycles:

  • Synthetic Hydraulic Fluid PAO VG 46/68 — long-life performance, injection molding machines, drilling equipment

Biodegradable Hydraulic Fluid (HETG / HEES)

  • Bio-Hydraulic HETG 46 — plant ester, compliant with environmentally sensitive areas
  • HEES 46 — synthetic ester, biodegradability >90%, offshore/environmental applications

Equipment Compatibility

Our hydraulic fluids are compatible and approved for:

  • Caterpillar — CAT BF, TO-2, TO-4
  • Komatsu — Hydraulic Fluid KES 07.892
  • Volvo — Volvo WB 101/102
  • JCB — HP 46 Hydraulic Fluid
  • Bosch Rexroth — RDE 90245
  • Denison — HF-0, HF-1, HF-2
  • Vickers — M-2950-S

Why is the choice of hydraulic fluid critical in Africa?

High ambient temperatures in sub-Saharan Africa (35–45°C in the shade), combined with intensive work cycles, cause hydraulic oil temperatures to rise well above 80°C. An undersized oil leads to:

  • Accelerated degradation of hydraulic seals
  • Premature wear of pumps and distributors
  • Loss of productivity and high maintenance costs

Our technicians can advise you on the optimal grade based on your equipment and geographical area.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between HM 46 and HVI 46?

HM 46 is a standard mineral-based hydraulic oil with anti-wear and anti-corrosion additives. HVI 46 also contains viscosity index improvers (VII) that maintain stable viscosity over a wider temperature range—ideal for mobile machinery in North Africa where day/night temperature variations are significant.

Can you mix two brands of hydraulic oil?

Technically possible for mineral oils of the same grade, but not recommended. Additive packages may be incompatible, leading to foaming or deposits. If changing brands, perform a complete system flush.

What is the minimum quantity for delivery to Ivory Coast or Senegal?

Minimum order: 4 x 200L drums (800L). For IBC and bulk orders, a 20′ FCL represents approximately 18 tonnes — we can group with other DANA products to optimize freight.
